Mintier Lines - S11 - Appendix - Poem and several photocopies of family pictures ========== APPENDIX When Digging Into the Past Out of the dark past, sysmbols o nan ancient boundary marker remind us that we are not alone, and that time has no boundaries. The very earth we walk on buries the debris of those who fathered us. We dig into the past and find - The commonness of daily survival for all man... The search for truth that threads through the ages... The expression of a beuty that never fades... The awe of worlds yet unknown... And we wonder what our children's children in their new world of tomorrow will find when they prod among our ruins - In the dust, the shards of shattered tubes... In the streets, the telltale bones of a hopeless flight... On the altars, embroidered tapestry and tarnished gold... In a cave, the gorgotten scrolls of hoy writ... And in the night, the light of a lonely star. By Herman C. Ahrens, and reprinted with permission from YOUTH magazine, published by United Church Press for teenagers of the United Church of Christ, the Eposcopal Church, and the Anglican Church of Canada ===== [scans of photocopied pictures] John Mintier 1826-1905 Mary Jane Henderson Mintier 1825-1906 William McCune 1836-1913 Elvira Alexander McCune 1839-1920 ----- William Alexander Mintier: At 30 yrs New Concord [House] - 1920 At Swissvale 12 yrs Christmas 1931 at Warrendale About 50 yrs ----- Pearl Amsden McCune Mintier: 10 yrs At time of marriage Oct 1885 Wilma-1yr [Group] 1913-1919 In 1940s ----- Parks Nichol Mintier Ella Hervey Mintier Patty Florence Ruth Martha Lois Dorothy [Group] Earl + Anna Jackman George + Mary Copeland [Group] ----- Wendell Reid Mintier Scotch Ridge House Harold Nichol Mintier At Scotch Ridge [Group] [Man and boy] ----- Martha Donna Patty Wendell Harold Virginia Wilma Anna Uncle Parks Mother Aunt Ella Bob Sara Florence Dorothy Martha Earl Patty Donna Barbara Martha Bob Patty Martha Donna Donna Bob Barbara Martha Patty ========== Source: 1970, "A Brief History of Some of the Family Lines of Wilma McCune Mintier", written and self-published for family members by Wilma McCune Mintier, 1970; Full typewritten, copied text in possession of William Daryl Sanders, Wilma's GrandNephew.
