NOTE: This page Under Construction/Conversion
This page has not been completely converted to OFPv2 Standards.
When this is completed, this paragraph will go away.
Meanwhile, all external links on this page open a new window.
NOTE: Most links on this page have not been verified, yet.

Special Note: Links marked with ($$) require a subscription and/or cost money!

NOTE: The links below may not be to home pages, and may actually belong to services listed elsewhere in these (OFPv2's Genealogy Links) pages. I have tried to note this when it is the case.

  • GeneaBios - Biographies for Genealogists - Posted bios and links to many other places for information.
  • US Biographies Project - Biographies entered by volunteers from various sources, many from old county histories.
  • Fulton County, Indiana Genealogy - Written by Judge Wendell C and Jean C Tombaugh (Tombaugh House, Rochester, IN), these books contain full obituaries (from the Rochester [News-]Sentinel, cemetery listings, family histories, death records, etc. There doesn't appear to be a search covering all the documents, so the best thing to do is use Google search with the site limiter: In the Google search box, type "site:www.fulco.lib.in.us name" (without quotes) with "name" being the name for which you are searching. Be aware that many of the files are in PDF and HTML forms, and in multiple directories.
  • Lives, the Biography Resource - "What can be found here: links to sites that focus on the lives of individuals or groups of people; links to sites that contain worthwhile collections of links to other biographical resources; links to primary biographical source material such as images, diaries, memoirs, correspondence, interviews, oral histories, etc.; links to some of the best biographical dictionaries." ... "What cannot be found here: links to short dictionary entries; links to fan biographies of living rock stars, soap stars, movie stars, etc.; links to sites where special effects overwhelm content." ... "A site that is especially noteworthy may be included even if it violates one of the above edicts."
  • [Indiana] County History Preservation Society ($$) - "Everything you see on the County History Preservation Society site was developed and implemented by Ronald Branson. Despite appearances, this site represents the efforts of one individual with the purpose of providing a wide range of access to documents that are no longer available to the general public, especially those who live outside of Indiana. ... In an effort to meet this stated purpose, all text information presented herein is accessible to any visitor. To assist in meeting the expenses of maintaining and growing this site, all larger images and the "Search Feature" have be set aside for only those individuals that have become Members of the society and are therefore Registered Users. As the financial requirements are modest, registration has been set at $10.00, renewable yearly, to make these services as accessible to the general public as possible." - This site contains historical maps, biographies from various Indiana "History and Portrait of... " county books, and is a very large work-in-progress.
  • Books of Historical Interest - These appear to be more Iowa-based. If you had relatives there, it will be worth checking out. Please note that there are more than the following "books" and other information available on this site.
    • Electronic Atlas of Central Indiana - Scanned and indexed pages of historic books
      • Hamilton County, Indiana 1880 - The 1880 "History of Hamilton County, Indiana, with Illustrations and Biographical Sketches of Some of it's Prominent Men and Pioneers, to which are appended Maps of its Several Townships", written and edited by TB Helm, and published by Kingman Brothers, Chicago
      • Madison County, Indiana 1880 - The 1901 "Atlas and Directory of Madison County Indiana, including a Directory of Freeholders and Official Register of the County, with illustrations, Compiled from Recent surveys, official records and Personal Examinations of the American Atlas Company, Cleveland, Ohio. 1901"
    • Portrait and Biographical Album, Washington County, IA (1887)
I have not been able to figure out the organization of this "book", but it's well worth searching. It contains the images of the portraits and non-text pages, and all text is typed into the webpage, making it searchable. Indexes are in "page order", not alphabetically.
  • [Iowa] 1887 Portrait and Biographical Album of Washington County, Iowa - Iowa Biography Project - List of those with biographies in this book, and a link to Books of Historical Interest, where the actual biographies (and indexes of all names within the biographies) can be found.
  • [Iowa] 1891 Biographical History of Pottawattamie Co. from IAGenWeb (Pott. Co.) - Complete text of ALL Biographies from the book
  • WebRoots.org - Nonprofit Library for Genealogy & History-Related Research - A Free Resource Covering the United States and Some International Areas - (See General category, below, for more information)
  • [Colorado] Portrait & Biographical Record - Denver & Vicinity (1898)
