Original Home Page
Unpublished - Designed Winter, 2001
When Dad suggested we create a site where our immediate and extended family could put pictures for everyone, a message board or forum, and other things, I searched out the Sanders Name Crest and created a banner and old-fashioned-looking background with it. The page below is framed, as you can see, by the background repeating almost immediately below the text of the sidebar. (Both frames had the same background.) The actual background is a simple 2x2 square - think table - with a lightened crest in the second column of the first row and the first column of the second row, and made to repeat itself both horizontally and vertically. I used a darker version of the background color as highlight for the banner middle.
Home Page for Family CD/DVD
First published December, 2005
After two-and-a-half years of genealogy, collecting documents, photos, census records and other things doing my family's genealogy, and after having published the "loose" information in simple directories on CD for family, I realized that many in the family probably had little idea of how to look at a lot of it. My genealogy software (Legacy Family Tree Genealogy Software) and my photo album software (NeoPhoto: Instant Photo Websites) created webpages, and I knew I could add access to directories for documents and other pictures. I still needed to make it as simple as possible, so I read up on AutoRun and found ShellOut.exe, which when entered into the AutoRun.inf file, with the Index.html file as a parameter, will open the website, showing the following page, as soon as the CD or DVD is put into the machine. Since most of the family used computers and surfed the web at times, I believe this was about as simple as I could make accessing everything. NOTE: The "SanGen" button, below, was changed to "Genealogy" in the final product.
I resurrected the original home page and graphics, used the graphics in the Legacy background (couldn't in NeoPhoto... Oh, well), and created a "front end" for the Legacy and NeoPhoto websites, and added front-end pages for certain directories. I let Legacy create it's website, and moved it as a sub-directory into mine, and did the same with NeoPhoto's website, then connected to them via a page within the "front-end" website. BTW: The following does NOT contain FRAMES!
