[Dated: Sat Sep 7, 2002 10:46 am - My highlight -BS]

Ann Marie Crouch, the same girl that hosted Dave Espino's first Auctions for Income infomercial, is in the current one (2006). (I VERY vaguely remember seeing the first infomercial. I MIGHT be wrong, but then, I MIGHT be right, too! smiley - laugh)

THIS time, she's extremely bubbly (I don't really recall in the first one ...), and excited! (And I think she's JUST hitting her late thirties, if she's THAT old!) They obviously liked the fact that she's extremely "attractive, personable, traditional, high-energy, [and] believable - 'COULDN'T TELL A LIE IF THEY HAD TO' ...". (I REALLY find that last qualification interesting. And she really DOES fit that bill.)

She and Dave banter back and forth, kinda like Jay or Dave and a guest. Then she lets out the bomb-shell... A couple of years ago, when she was hired for the first commercial, she'd never even heard of the internet, and could barely run a computer. (Wonder where SHE was born? Maybe that's why we "believe" her, huh?) Afterwards, she went through the system, and in a short while had made $2000! And now, she's a "POWERSELLER" with an extremely high rating! "OMG!" (Said with a "Valley Girl" accent on the "G!")

There's the "usual" infomercial "testimonials", the short commercial in the infomercial a couple of times (mid-way and at the end), and both Ann Marie and Dave talking to each other and the camera (us), telling us how great Auctions for Income (AFI) is, and how much money we can make.

To be sure, Ann Marie is VERY nice-looking and "traditional" (to me, meaning she's "covered up" where the girls in Don Lapre's "Greatest Vitamin in the World" are ... showing quite a bit of their "wares", if you catch my drift. Dave seems to be an extremely laid-back individual. (Apparently, he made his "Power-Seller" rating selling Hot-Wheel Cars.)

The Product

As with many of these Biz Opps (Business Opportunities), the owner/author/CEO/whatever has usually be extremely successful in what they are selling. In this case, Dave says he started out collecting and selling Hot-Wheels, and when he found eBay, his part-time business "took off". And then (of course), he learned an amazing secret that boosted his sales even higher. And he wants to share his "secrets" with us.

Again, as with others, Dave became the expert, started doing seminars, and writing books to go with them. He's expanded the books he originally wrote by adding new ones to the mix.

The package includes "Dave’s Quick Start System, complete with Start Up Assistance Session, guide book and instructional video ... exclusive product locating guides to learn 33 different ways to find a non-stop supply of other exciting products to sell in your auctions ... Dave’s easy-to-follow auction listing system will teach you how to list, word and run ALL your auctions effectively ... how to safely and securely collect your money ... instant access to Dave’s favorite wholesale source ... one year of FREE online support and a FREE one year membership to Dave’s exclusive members only web site ... a FREE edition of Dave’s best selling e-book entitled 'Beyond eBay'" all with an "an ENTIRE 90 day" guarantee. "If you're not completely satisfied with your PERSONAL results -- just return it for a COMPLETE refund of the purchase price. Less S&H"

From my understanding, most of this information is at least 2-4 years old (a life-time in Internet-land), and most of the details don't really apply in today's world. The principles, of course, are still valid, and if you've never done anything on eBay at all, it MIGHT help. By the same token, eBay has a community of people who are out there to help you. Some have their own secrets that they won't share (say, their sources for the products they sell), but most of the information in Dave's books are there.

There are also numerous sites on the internet with free articles and information to help you start a business. Some are Auction-specific, many eBay-specific. (See General Information (Online Auctions) links, below for some of these pages/sites.)

Professional Marketing International (PMI) "Coaching"

Something else, Dave has "teamed" with Professional Marketing International (PMI), who he "trained to coach you". A couple of weeks after you receive your package, you will get a call from them. They will ask numerous questions, and tell you that you need the information they give you to succeed with Auctions for Income. (Apparently, that "free one year support" in the package doesn't include this coaching - It's probably more access to the sites, you were "also" given.)

Please be sure to check out my Business Opportunity Coaching and Mentoring Services page.

I suggest that even if you decide to purchase Dave's system, DO NOT under any circumstances accede to PMI, and pay for "coaching".

Product Websites

Following are links to what appear to be "main" sites for the product.

Reviews and Warnings

This section lists the sites where I found "negative" comments about the people and company, and/or the product. Some of the terms "sham", "scam", "scams", "flim-flam", "complain", "complaints", "rip", "rip-off", "fraud", "warning", similar words, and maybe just "review" were used in searching for negative comments.

WARNING: Be aware that some of the following sites may be attempting to sell their own or lead you into buying another product. If you consider their (or others') offers, at least do as much research on them as you would in looking for a new house, car or doctor before buying anything. Also, be sure to read and understand any company's Privacy Policies and Terms/Conditions, too. A "$$" indicates these sites.

News Articles

General Information (Online Auctions)

It's been noted by a number of sites, much of the information you glean from Auctions for Income is available in eBay forums and various websites for free. In these links you can find products, reviews, and other articles that may help, whether you have bought the system or not.
