Items on this page were researched by Bill Sanders (aka LYAO Editor or "-LE")

Each item in question is in a white box and listed first, followed by it's status, links to my sources (where I determined the fact was right, wrong, etc.), and any comments I might have on the subject in a light yellow box. ;-)

Any short notes written by me on quoted material are in square brackets ("[" and "]"]

AKA: War, What War; Moslems; Muslims;

The original email spelled the term "Moslem". According to Muslim - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Other Words for Muslim section, since the late 1980s, the correct spelling has been "Muslim". I have changed this in the following, believing the original creator of this email may have been trying to use a pejorative term.

I've received this email at least three times, the first being before May 03, 2006. Since I recently received it, again (02/14/2007), I thought I should put this page up, so I can just point people here.

Below I have enclosed pictures of Muslims

who marched throughout the streets of London

during their recent Religion of Peace Demonstration.

These pictures have never been shown

in any of our American

newspapers or television news programs

because we should never appear to offend anyone!

Why would anyone think

that we should be at war

with such nice, peaceful Muslims?!

Comments from the emails I received:

Yeppers ... I got my peacemaker on tap ...

WE may not be at war with THEM, but THEY sure are with US!

Islam's "Religion of Peace" street demonstration

Status: RIGHT, but ...

Comment(s):

First off, it was NOT a "Religion of Peace" demonstration, but a protest over the depiction of the prophet Mohammad in some Danish political cartoons.

Second, I believe I read that London Police estimated between 500-700 protestors marched through London. Now, London, England, and Great Britain, in general, have thousands of Muslims. And even then, if you'll notice, it's only a few with the signs, and only a few shouting things (see the video, below).

Why is it when a minority of people of any religion or race raise a big stink about something, the media is there, wholeheartedly reporting their plight, but when the majority makes any statement at all, it is totally ignored by the media?

There are MILLIONS of Muslims in this world, but when a couple of hundred extremists throw up signs and chants like the above, THAT'S what's reported? Where are the pictures of the people who were PEACEFULLY protesting? Where are the pictures of those who quietly protested at home? Where are the stories about them?

Remember Vietnam? The "Silent Majority"? Very little was reported on them. But get a handful of students taking over a university's administration building, and suddenly, THEIR cause is heard. Then, rather than families meeting their returning soldiers at airports, it was the ass-hole kids, spitting at them, throwing things at them, yelling at them, calling them "Baby-Killers". And they kept this up, long after we left the war.

In the process of things like this, innocent people get lumped into what's seen on TV and in newspapers (the loud-mouths... the rabble-rousers... the sensational...), and because AMERICAN news is one of the major news sources in the world, now the world believes that this is the way ALL Americans believe and act, when it just ain't so.

NOTE: The following links are simply examples of the items mentioned. There are thousands of pages all over the web. Simply search for:

moslems protest cartoons

If you'd care to do a little research rather than simply react with fear and forward emails like the above on, possibly adding comments as seen above, you'd know that these pictures were taken on the ONE day that a Muslim cleric declared would be a day of anger in at least London, over the political cartoons of Muhammad.

You'd find videos and articles on the protest... Look close at the video on the first site... There are MANY people there... There are a few signs, and a few ... shall we say "rabble-rousers"? It also appears to be directed at the Danish Embassy. But the majority are just there:

You'd know that many Muslim groups and governments of all types condemned the actions of a few of the protestors:

You'd run into articles by educated Muslims who, while disliking the cartoons, do NOT react with the fervor and anger of the protestors; and how numerous Muslim organizations asked for peaceful demonstrations and apologized for the people in those protests causing havoc:

For example:

And you'd find numerous discussions, on the links above, and in the following:

As in all cases, don't blame a whole religion, race, color or ideology for the actions of a few.
